ABOUT THE BOAT - EARL GREY II

In March 2006 we took delivery of our new purpose built vessel, "Earl Grey II ". We worked closely with Richard McBride from McBride design to ensure the same excellent features from the original Earl Grey were incorporated into our new custom designed 36 foot vessel to provide our customers with a larger and more comfortable vessel

"Earl Grey II" features:

• walk in flush toilet
• comfortable cabin with galley facilities
• a huge 'in floor' live bait tank constantly fed with fresh sea water
• generous uncluttered deck area so as to allow plenty of space for anglers playing a serious fish
• sunken cleats for unobstructed fishing, especially important for saltwater fly fishing

 The Earl Grey II operates under New Zealand Safe Ship Management policy (M.N.Z. No. 132245) and carries a full range of safety and navigational equipment including echo (fish/depth) sounder, radar, G.P.S satellite and V.H.S. radio.

About your Fishing Guide, Captain Steve Butler

Steve is a qualified skipper holding the qualification of RLL. For your added safety Steve also holds a current First Aid Certificate and Radio Operators License. We are members of the Safe Ship Management Company, Survey Nelson Ltd, authorized by Maritime New Zealand to provide Safe Ship Management Services.

We are family members of the historic Bay of Islands Swordfish Club, the oldest gamefish club in New Zealand. Orginally established in 1918 as the Bay of Islands Kingfish Club Inc, the present day Bay of Islands Swordfish Club was incorporated in 1924. Day Memberships with the Bay of Islands Swordfish Club can be organized for those anglers wishing to target line class species while fishing aboard Earl Grey II.
